I contributed some sound pieces(including sound effects) for Meng Chang’s animation which was exhibited in Bauhaus Universität in Weimar.

unterwegs from Meng Chang on Vimeo.

Duration: 3min
Film Type: 2D-Animation
Technique: Rotoscope, Digitally Drawn

One night when I closed my eyes and prepared to sleep, my head became completely empty in a moment. Then a few fragments of memories flashed into my mind. I started to think about what I have been through over the years and the changes in my life. It was a good moment to observe myself from an objective perspective. The second day I started to organise and summarise what I had thought about that night and decided to make this short film.
I consider this animation a portrait film of myself, an individual viewpoint. The title is “unterwegs” - it’s not the recording of a linear trip but more like a self confession. It can be also said, it presents my current life status, how did I think about feelings, views, and values.
It took me some time to finish the animation and during this period I was doing some other projects to distract me from myself - it‘s hard for me to read myself again and again everyday, but fortunately it hasn‘t been abandoned.
